Summary
I am a research assistant with an honours degree in Applied Freshwater and Marine Biology from ATU Galway. Through academic research, professional fieldwork, and volunteer conservation projects, I have built a comprehensive foundation in ecological surveying and species monitoring, spanning freshwater, marine, and terrestrial environments. My practical experience includes a third-year placement at the Marine Institute, where I gained hands-on insight into research and environmental report writing for Appropriate Assessments. I have completed a residential ornithology field course in Deltebre, Spain, focused on wintering waders and waterfowl, and I volunteer with BirdWatch Ireland conducting I-WeBS surveys at sites around Galway Bay. Additionally, I have experience in community engagement and education and outreach through my volunteer work with my local TidyTowns group and as Co-Chair of the Galway Bay South East Community catchment Forum. I am driven by a strong passion for biodiversity conservation and the sustainable management of Ireland’s natural environments.
